visits
American
Federation
of
German Folk
Dance Groups
After marching in the Steuben Parade in New York City, members of the
German Society for Folk Dance visited its counterpart, the American
Federation of German Folk Dance Groups, in 2001 in Indianapolis,
Indiana.
The delegation was made up of dancers from the various member groups
in Germany. The event was hosted by the Indiana Heritage
Society. The German dancers toured Indianapolis and Nashville,
where they gave a workshop and participated in a gala dance party and
dinner. Before returning to Germany all enjoyed a typical
American Barbeque at the home of Pete and Ginnvor Bullard. For
many of the visitors it was a first hand look at life in the U.S.A. .
